1949 All-Japan Cap
1949 All-Japan Cap
Our take on the 1949 All-Japan Away Cap.
This "J" design was used for the revival of US-Japanese baseball, when the San Francisco Seals took on the All-Japan team in 1949. The series was considered a major diplomatic success in the post-war period, and the 11-game tournament saw as many as 500,000 spectators.
This version of the caps wasn't used for this series, as the Seals only brought their away uniforms to Japan! It finally saw action in the same year for the West team in the final East-West match of Japan's single-league era. This is what the kids call a "deep cut", for sure.
We've made these beauties in a limited edition with our friends at Sandlot Goods in Kansas City.
